Connolly’s Chair in the Bogs at the Crum, 2011.

Jody McGrath is originally from Northern Ireland. Shortly after graduating with a degree in fine arts from the University of Ulster in Belfast, he moved to Philadelphia, where he currently resides. “Connolly’s Chair in the Bogs at the Crum,” acrylics on canvas (2011), deals with the events in the aftermath of the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin and, in particular, the execution of its leaders by the British. One of those leaders was James Connolly. Badly wounded and unable to stand, he was tied to a chair and executed by a firing squad. The painting is in the private collection of actor and patron of the arts Mike Kelly. For more, please visit: jodymcgrath.com.
